Macerated oils are carrier oils that have been used as a solvent to extract the therapeutic components of another plant. Common bases are sunflower oil or olive oil. Macerated oils can be advantageous over essential oils when the plant properties you want to extract come from larger molecules. Macerated oils capture larger molecules that are lost in the process that produce essential oils. In some instances, plants do not have an essential oil product and so macerated oils are a great solution.
