Thyme is originally from the Mediterranean region and has been used as an herbal medicine by the Greeks, Egyptians and Romans since ancient times. Today, it is widely cultivated for its oil in France, Morocco and Spain.
Thyme essential oil is extracted from the fresh or partly dried leaves and stems of the plant through steam distillation.
One of the most beneficial effects thyme essential oil has, is that it is excellent for cardiovascular wellbeing. It causes the muscles and arteries of the heart to relax, while at the same time lowering blood pressure and strengthening heart muscles.
