Lemon essential oil is highly concentrated in limonene, beta pinene and gamma terpinene. These different molecules give it the following main properties:
Antibacterial +++ (β-pinene, limonene, citral): Lemon essential oil has an anti-infectious and antibacterial action through its activity on Gram - and Gram+ germs.
Lipid-lowering ++ (limonene): Lemon essential oil contains components that promote lipolysis (degradation of lipids).
Antinauseous ++ (limonene): Lemon essential oil helps against nausea or motion sickness thanks to limonene which acts on gastric motility.
Vitamin P-Like, Blood Fluidifier ++ (β-pinene, limonene, γ-terpinene): the imitation of vitamin P by certain molecules decreases the permeability of capillaries and increases their resistance. The essential oil of Lemon thus has a positive action on the prevention of accidents of hypertensive and diabetic origin as well as a favourable action on blood fluidity which calms our nervous system, thus creating an "appetite suppressant" effect on our brain. The essential oil of Lemon also has stomach characteristics that promote digestion.
Cholagogue, Choleretic ++ (limonene): Lemon essential oil promotes choleresis, i.e. the production of bile by the liver and its evacuation to the intestine.
